5 of the coolest houseplants (that won’t die on you)

We love a bunch of fresh blooms as much as the next person, but indoor plants? We’re obsessed.

There’s just no better way to add energy, life and bang-on-trend style to your home than with a big ol’ splash of greenery in a killer pot.

But we know what you’re thinking: ain’t nobody got time for fussy houseplants! And we hear you. So before you reach for the fake versions, here are a few of our favourite plants that are easier to keep alive than you think, and look pretty damn amazing to boot.

Mother in Law’s Tongue

It’s hard to believe there was a time that these guys didn’t feature in every trendy café worth their salt. There’s just something about them that makes any room look cooler, and we can’t get enough! But the best thing? They love it when you don’t water them! Who knew.

Devil’s Ivy

Pop one of these guys on a high shelf near some sunlight and they’ll love you forever. They’re crazy-easy to grow and their leaves drape over the edge of said shelf towards the floor and look ah-mazing.

Fiddle leaf fig

Notorious for needing all the attention, fiddles are actually pretty easy to keep alive. The trick is knowing how. They love filtered sunlight, so stick yours near a window and give it a good drink every couple of weeks – you’ll be rewarded with huge, glossy leaves that are second to none.

The Monstera has made a massive comeback and we’re loving it. They look beyond awesome in your living room, and really don’t need more than a bright corner and a drink once a week to thrive.

If you’re really not up for plant TLC of any kind, you can’t go wrong with a cactus. For a stunning feature, we love a prickly pear or column cactus in a brightly coloured pot – so good.

One of the best things about new plants has to be finding the perfect pot to go with it. Here’s a roundup of our current favourites:
